Why Strategic Business Planning?

The State of Oregon has recently completed a state-wide Strategic Business Plan for all of Oregon’s Ports. In addition to reorganizing the State’s relationship with Ports and providing new programs tailored to their needs, the State will require updated or new Strategic Plans for each Port choosing to participate in the program.

After many years of collaboration, Al Benkendorf, Allan Rumbaugh and Jerry Johnson have organized a team of Port strategic planning professionals. The purpose of the Team is to assist the Ports of the Northwest with their strategic and business planning.

Our Team is uniquely qualified to assist the Ports with a new Strategic Plan because Al Benkendorf and Allan Rumbaugh were members of the consulting team that prepared the State Plan. In fact, Al led the Coastal Port planning Team and served as the most experienced contributing port professional. His qualifications are especially unique, because he was a prime consultant on the Team which prepared the 1980 Oregon Ports Study
